I am still here!

Have no fear; I have not forgotten about all of you! I know that you want to hear about all that I have been doing. I have been traveling a lot (8 cities total and two of them twice) and getting to know all of the Friends of China people in China – there are 41 of them. Each city has its own style, food, and way of traveling. I now have a subway card for most of the cities that I will visit. WeChat is the way that most people stay connected. It is a cross between FaceBook, Whatsapp, Apple Pay. and some other apps. I really do enjoy using this app in China. My contact list now is filled with new friendships from each city. This includes all of the teachers, some of their friends, some people from the church groups that I am meeting and people on plane trips, and even a couple of students that I met in a mall. That is a lot of “new” in my life! Transitions to that much newness in my life is hard work. My brain just feels very tired and fuzzy most days. I haven’t been very patient with myself in all of this. I want to be transitioned and functioning well…right now!

I don’t really want to admit to you that food is still difficult for me. All of those automatic patterns of my life just aren’t happening. I get meals and sleep and exercise all under control and then I leave for another trip up north. Unfortunately I am not getting right back on track when I come back to Hong Kong. It takes time and planning. My brain is too fuzzy to make coherent plans. When I do have any brain power I am working a syllabus and plan for teaching a class in March.

Please don’t get me wrong. I really am enjoying my time up north and my time in Hong Kong. My life is richer for getting to know all of these people. It just seems difficult for me to sort through my thoughts and come up with a blog post about it all. So here are a few pictures from my travels up north and a promise that more blog posts will come.

  1. It’s okay to need to take the time to sort through everything! So many experiences in such a short time. Just know that we love reading the posts and hearing about what you have been up to. Sending all our love and prayers to you guys.
